Kathy Anderson

The last ten years have passed so quickly. It seems like yesterday that I was looking forward to seeing you all again.

As I have written in previous bios, after graduation I got my hairdressing license and worked in Holdrege for awhile. I then moved to Denver, got married and had a son named Kenny. After 5 1/2 years of marriage we divorced. As the years passed we lived mostly in Denver with a little junket to Montana for two years. In 1981 the oil company I worked for transferred me to Lubbock, Texas. We were there for 3 years until the bottom fell out of the oil industry. In 1986, with the oil economy not doing so well in Denver, we decided to try California. I did not find work in the oil industry in California, but instead found work in Hollywood. I landed in a firm that secures the rights for music in film, television, commercials, etc. It has provided me with a wonderful career that I truly love. I worked for that firm for 3 1/2 years and then went on to their competitor and am still working for them after 15 years. I am the managing director in contract administration for the company.

Now for the real stuff! How many of you have found the complete joy in having a grandchild? Isn't it the best? I have a nine year old granddaughter named Sylena. She is my heart. We have so much fun together and such a bond. I wish that I had appreciated my son as much as I appreciate Sylena. I think when we are younger, we take our kids for granted, not so with grandchildren. I cherish every moment I have with her.

Kenny and Jennifer live in Santa Monica, California. They live about 2 blocks from the Santa Monica Pier. The only thing between them and the boardwalk and sand is a small parking lot. Thank goodness for rent controlled apartments! Kenny moved there 11 years ago and has been there ever since. I love to go out and people watch. I wish that I could rollerblade!

Kenny is a computer tech and has a loyal client base. Jennifer previously worked with us in our office doing music clearance. She then took on one of our shows "The Sopranos" and worked from home for 2 years. She is now helping Kenny in his business.

Sylena is just finishing the 3rd grade and is looking forward to summer camp and swimming lessons this summer. She is an animal lover and has a cat named Hodgie who is older than she is and a resuced Miniature Schnauzer named Bruce about 3 years old.

I am still in Burbank after almost 20 years in the same place. I live with my aged cat China, who is now 19 and another spunky 1 1/2 year old cat Ruby. China has grown old with me and we both have aches and pains too numerous to mention.

I had the luxury of having Jane (Carlson) Fischer living near for a number of years to keep me grounded. We used to have dinner, kick around and reminisce every few weeks. She and her husband Bruce moved to Oregon a while back and I miss them terribly. Old friends are the best, aren't they? Let's buy a small town and all retire together, shall we?

Susan (Borden) Strong has been a faithful correspondent via email and phone calls. I talk to Alice Ann Swanson periodically, but would love to hear from more of my old classmates. Now that I am a little more proficient in emailing, we can keep in better contact.

I am truly looking forward to seeing each and every one of you in August.
