Connie Fortney (Westergren)
AXTELL--Memorial graveside services for Connie (Westergren) Fortney will be conducted at the Salem Cemetery near Axtell on Monday, March 4, 2002, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Murray Jones officiating.
Connie Mae (Westergren) Fortney, 54, of Plano, Tex. died Feb. 9, 2002. Funeral services were conducted in Plano on Feb. 12 at the Stone Briar Church. She was born on May 30, 1947 in Holdrege, the second of five children to Lloyd and Laurine Westergren. She was confirmed at the Moses Hill Church in Phelps County in 1963.
Mrs. Fortney attended school in Holdrege and graduated with the class of 1965. She pursued a higher education at Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, graduating in 1969 and later received a degree at Dallas Seminary in Dallas. She received a masters degree from the University of Texas, and taught school in Bellevue, Neb., and in Texas. She was an administator at the Plano Elementary School in Plano.
She was united in marriage to Bill Fortney and to this union were born: Brian, Brent, Brad and Brenda.
Survivors are: her husband, Bill Fortney of Dallas; three sons, Brent Fortney and his wife, Angela, Brad Fortney and Brian Fortney; one daughter Brenda Fortney; one granddaughter, Faith Fortney, all of Dallas; her mother, Laurine (Westergren) Musil and her husband, Kenneth of Holdrege; three brothers, Dennis Westergren and family of Dallas, Arlyn Westergren and family of Omaha, and Mark Westergren and family of Richland, Wash; one sister, Linda Westergren and family of San Diego, Calif.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father.
There will be no visitation. The family has chosen cremation. The Nelson-Harris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
