While growing up, Carolyn was a member of the Pioneer Club, 4H club and was a member of the Girl Scout/Brownies. She was also a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free church in Holdrege Nebraska. She began working at Holdrege Memorial Hospital as a nurses aid at the age of 15.
Carolyn Graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1962. Carolyn (Peterson). Carolyn also worked at the local A&W as a car hop. In high school, she met Jerry L. Fitch of Holdrege Nebraska and after graduation, she and Jerry Fitch married on June 30, 1962 at the Trinity Evangelical Free church in Holdrege, Nebraska.
Carolyn and Jerry later moved from Holdrege Nebraska to Colorado after the birth of their first child. Carolyn continued to work as a nurses aid at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver. Carolyn then began her career at Safeway Stores Inc. where she worked as a clerk and in management until she retired after 42 years.
Carolyn enjoyed the outdoors and specifically enjoyed being in the mountains. She enjoyed her cats in her childhood and that passion continued throughout her life. Carolyn was diagnosed with Lung cancer in February of 2014 and began treatments. She continued to live life and love her family throughout this.
Carolyn greatly loved her husband, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be sincerely missed by her Husband, Jerry Fitch, Children, Greg Fitch and wife MJ Fitch of Galesburg Illinois, Tracy (Fitch) Westphal and her husband TC Westphal of Thornton, Colorado, Blake Fitch and wife Tina Fitch of Newcastle, Colorado, Brent Fitch and Tanya Fitch of Frederick, Colorado. Grandchildren - Christopher Fitch, Zachary Dorkins, Nicholas Dorkins, Cameron Dorkins, Brice Fitch, Shana Fitch, Derek Manion, Mary Runge, David Fitch, Nathan Fitch, Bradley Fitch, Tevin Fitch. Great grandchildren – Gavin Fitch, Riley Manion.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Albert R. Peterson, mother Hazel E. Peterson, and brother Roger Peterson. She is survived by her sister Kathryn Barker and sister-in-law Violet Peterson of Holdrege Nebraska, as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.
