David Frank Burgeson, 79 years of age, of Grand Island, Nebraska, formerly of Wamego, Kansas, and Holdrege, passed away, on October 1, 2023, at Tiffany Square in Grand Island. David was born in Holdrege on November 8, 1943, the fourth of six children, born to Roy and Mary Ann (Hilsabeck) Burgeson. He received his education from Holdrege Public School and later attended and graduated from Holdrege High School, with the class of 1962. Following his education, David worked at the Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company. On August 2, 1968, David was united in marriage to Vicki Meier, and to this union, three children were born: Nikole, Heath, and Jennifer. The couple made their home in Holdrege before moving to Manhattan, Kansas where David worked for Central Mechanical Services. The marriage later ended in divorce and David moved to Wamego, Kansas. David enjoyed fishing, watching football especially the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Kansas City Chiefs, and billiards. He liked watching stock car races, attending car shows, and working on his 1968 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro. But most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege. David was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Burgeson, and his wife, Karen; two sisters: Karen Henry and her husband, Jim; and Mary Lou Payton. He is survived by his children: Niki Modean and her husband, Joe of St. George, Kansas; Heath Burgeson and his wife, Tammy of Kearney, Nebraska; and Jennifer True and her husband, Mike of Parker, Colorado; seven grandchildren: Trenton Modean; Kaitlyn Laub and her husband, Joel; Bailey Taylor; Reagan Taylor; Cade Taylor; Jared Burgeson; Ryan Burgeson; one great-grandchild, Greylan Laub; two brothers: Jim Burgeson and his wife, Joyce; and Mike Burgeson and his wife, Connie; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. A memorial has been established in David’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
