 Gary Dean Bachman, passed away, April 21, 2008 in Holdrege, Nebraska. Gary was born January 28, 1946 in Holdrege Nebraska, the son of Dean W. and Dorothy L. (Leach) Bachman. Gary enlisted into the United States Army when he was 17 years of age and graduated high school in conjunction with the military. He served his country in Viet Nam, where he received a commendation for bravery and the Medal of Honor. Gary also served several years in Korea and at Ft. Lewis Army Base in Tacoma, Washington. Following his honorable discharge, Gary worked in Civil Service for eleven years at Ft. Lewis Army Base in the Defense Reutilization Market as a Work Leader in the precious metals processing department, until his retirement in 1999.
Following his retirement, Gary traveled in his motor home to Taylorsville, North Carolina, where he met his wife, Gloria Jean "Jeanie" Lowe at the campground she and her family owned. The couple were united in marriage at the campground on August 17, 2002. Gary and Jeanie moved to Holdrege in October of 2006. Gary had currently been employed as a weekend security guard for Securitas at the Becton Dickinson plant in Holdrege.
He loved traveling in his motor home, spending time with family and friends, driving and tinkering with his convertible Capri. He also enjoyed playing with his pets and watching the SCI-FI channel on TV. Gary also volunteered at Christian Homes, taking his pets during visits to brighten the day of the residents and enjoyed playing pool with them.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Jeanie of Holdrege, Nebraska; mother, Dorothy L. Bachman of Holdrege, Nebraska; father, Dean W. Bachman and his wife, Juanita of Salt Lake City, Utah; mother-in-law, Helen Dalrymple of Avon, Indiana; two sisters: Waunita Watson of Holdrege, Nebraska and Kristen Bachman of Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers: Stephen Bachman of Holdrege, Nebraska and Dean W. Bachman Jr. and his wife, Candy of Salt Lake City, Utah; three step-children: Laura Ritchie and her husband, Randy and Jim Miller all of Wapakoneta, Ohio and Brian Lowe of Huntington, West Virginia; three brothers-in-law: Tom Dalrymple and his wife, Carolyn of Desoto, Texas, Ron Ireland and his wife, Pat of Indianapolis, Indiana and Don Ireland and his wife, Linda of Avon, Indiana; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Gerald Bachman; sister, Patricia Ring; father-in-law, Newton Dalrymple; sister-in-law, Judy Dalrymple-Riley and brother-in-law, James Watson.
