Lo Jeanne Marie “Jeani” Ericson, 65 years old of Salem, WI, went to be
with the Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at St. Catherine’s Medical
Center, Pleasant Prairie, WI. She passed away from multi-organ
failure. Jeani was born February 10, 1951 in Holdrege, NE, the daughter
of the late Elving and Hazel (nče Cedar) Ericson. She was a 1969
graduate of Holdrege High School, where in the late 1960’s she was a
member of the first all-female band in Nebraska and was among the first
all-female bands in the country. Their name was “The Female Explosion”
and she was the bass guitarist and singer. Among their many
accomplishments, they won the Battle of the Bands in Kearney, NE and
later went on to perform at the Nebraska State Fair in Lincoln, NE. On
November 22, 1980, Jeani married Brian Ericson in Waukegan, IL and they
later moved to Salem in 1985. Jeani was a “mom to many” kids; working as
a babysitter out of the home, as a troop leader for both the Boy Scouts
and Girl Scouts, and as a chaperone for the Central High School Band for
8 years on their trips to Walt Disney World. She was a very good
seamstress and worked for many years as a waitress at Brat Stop,
Annie’s, and Andy’s Drive-In; all in Kenosha. She also worked for
Wal-Mart in Antioch when it opened for over 10 years in the cosmetics
department and as a cashier. Jeani was a proud 2nd generation Swede and
an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan; known best for her smile and sweet
nature. Jeani always put her family first.
She is survived by her husband of over 36 years, Brian; their children,
Steven Ericson and Holly (Darel) Keiser; their grandchildren, Madison
and Sydney Keiser; her brothers, David (Shari) Ericson and Dan (Jan)
Ericson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in
death by her parents and a sister, Suzanne Ericson in 1966.
Funeral Services were held at 3:00PM Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the
STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. Antioch, IL
60002. Interment is private. Visitation was held from 12:00PM until the
