Funeral Services for Robert R. "Bob" Johnson will be conducted
from the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on
Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Buck Linton-Hendrick
and Bob’s cousin, Pastor Scott Guthrie, officiating. Interment will be
in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Robert R. Johnson, 64 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2008 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Bob was born January 7, 1944 in Holdrege, the second of four children of LaVern H. and Pauline E. (Hanson) Johnson. He grew up on the family farm northeast of Holdrege. Bob received his primary education from rural schools north of Holdrege and then graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1962. Following his education, he engaged in farming with his father for a short period of time before he began farming on his own east of Holdrege. In December of 1970 he was united in marriage to Lynda Nelson and to this union two daughters were born: Gerri and Paige. Besides his love for the labor of the land, Bob attained his private pilot’s license in 1966 and enjoyed flying as a hobby. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, enjoyed his membership at the Holdrege Country Club, was a member of the Nebraska Corn Growers Association and served in the Nebraska Air National Guards from 1962 - 1970. He leaves to mourn his passing his two daughters: Gerri Lawson and her husband, S. John Lawson III of Shawnee, Kansas and Paige Christen and her husband, Shawn of Lincoln, Nebraska; two grandchildren: Natalie Lawson and Carter Christen; one brother, Ronald Johnson and his wife, Patsy of Holdrege; two sisters: Sandra Hilsabeck-Hastings and her husband, Bryce Hastings and Linoma Wingate and her husband, Wayne all of Lincoln, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His parents preceded him in death. Bob will lie in state for memorial book signing on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Memorials are kindly suggested to the Nebraska Diabetes Association in memory of Bob’s mother, Pauline.
