Bio

His early years were spent on the farm north of Funk with his father, mother, brother and Peterson uncles. Ron pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and completed his degree at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park, New York in 1967. Upon graduation from the CIA, he received a Fellowship student award for one year, followed by an Associate Teaching position for a second year. His career in the food industry first took him to California, where he worked for Victoria Station and Magic Pan restaurants. He then returned to Hyde Park as a Professor at the Culinary Institute for over 10 years. His next career step was as Food and Beverage Manager for Palace Station Casinos in Las Vegas. He completed his professional career with the Outwest Meat Company in Las Vegas. Upon retirement, he continued to live in Las Vegas until his health made it necessary to move to Fort Collins, Colorado in September 2016.

Ron received the honor of being named a “Fellow” of the Culinary Institute of America; the highest honor they bestow on alumni. Ron was heavily involved in collecting a unique pattern of Haviland china. He was an active member of the “Haviland Collector’s International Foundation”; he greatly enjoyed being an invited speaker at their annual meetings.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Ron is survived by his brother, Gary Peterson and his wife, Jackie of Fort Collins; his nieces: Kerstin Bruxvoort and her husband, Russ and their children: Kyla, Jakob and Seth Bruxvoort; Ingrid Bradley and her husband, David and their children: Annika and Andrew all of Fort Collins.
