David Erion
STURGIS, S.D.-- An inurnment service for David D. Erion of Sturgis with Pastor Howard Smith officiating, was at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Military honors were provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.
He died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004 at his home in Boulder Canyon. He was born March 18, 1947 at Grand Island, Neb., to Don and Helen (Huston) Erion.
He was a graduate of Holdrege High School, Milford Technical School and Western Nebraska Tech at Sidney as a certified Airframe and Powerplant technician.
Mr. Erion joined the Marine Corps in 1967 and received electronics training before serving a 13-month tour of duty in Vietnam. He received four medals, seven commendations and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant, (E-5), on Oct. 11, 1972.
While he was in the service, he married Marjory Phelan of Horseheads, N.Y., on Dec. 28, 1969.
He worked as an auto mechanic for Bob Harden in Holdrege before moving to the Black Hills where he worked at Deadwood Ford and Jacobsen Ford before working with his brother, Sam, in construction.
Survivors incude: his parents, Don and Helen Erion of Sturgis; three brothers, Ron and Terry Erion of Cozad, Dan and Bonnie Erion of Piedmont, S.D., and Sam and Linda Erion of Sturgis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
